Dr. V. Helen. Jones BVMS MRCVS
Helen, a vet of 18+ years, has lived in the southwest since 2006, working with all creatures great and small. At a young age, Helen was inspired to help animals and followed in James Herriot’s footsteps by attending Glasgow University.
Helen quickly realised the joy of her job was found in enabling and enhancing the bond between people and their pets. Families' relationship with their ‘heart pet’ is as varied as the number of breeds in existence. The common thread, however, is always "to want what is best for your pet".

I’ve been unfortunate enough to need to call on Helen twice in two months as I’ve lost two of my most beloved pets. I do however, feel so fortunate to have met Helen as I couldn’t imagine entrusting my animals with anyone else. Having said goodbye to our 4 cats over the last four years, I can honestly say that Helen helped make the euthanasia of our final cat (Eddie) the calmest experience of this process that we have had. Eva was diagnosed with heart failure 9 months ago, with medication twice a day we were blessed to have extra time with our precious baby girl. When we had to make the extremely difficult decision to have our best friend Monty put to sleep, we knew the last thing he would have wanted was to be taken to the vets for his last journey. Instead, we contacted Helen and she came to us. Monty was able to go to sleep in his own bed, outside on the grass, eating sausages in the sunshine. The whole experience was so peaceful, and it helped us a lot to know he was able to enjoy his last moments, rather than being at the vets , which he would have hated. Helen was amazing.
